The only thing we know for certain about any reservoir description of a petroleum reservoir is that it is wrong. The robustness of the oil recovery process to reservoir heterogeneity is then a crucial consideration for commercial development. Our approach is to apply basic physics & chemistry, grounded in empirical observations, to provide a reference for oil production forecasting. This approach has led us to surprising insights that contradict prevailing doctrines & predict inflection points that are smudged away by conventional finite difference simulations.

The neologism 'petroprognostica' is no doubt pretentious, but I do take encouragement that Johan Kepler, the celebrated astronomer, made his living primarily out of reading horoscopes for his clients!
